GM/VP, Agriculture at WeatherBill in San Francisco, CA

WeatherBill seeks a GM/VP, Agriculture. This executive leader will play a key role in setting strategy and executing the sales and channel plans in order to achieve specific business unit goals. The position requires intensive interaction with appointed and prospective channel partners, primarily crop insurance agencies.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned executive with a proven track record of sales management experience in a channel-oriented Agriculture products organization, preferably crop insurance.

This role represents a rare opportunity for a senior leader to play a significant role in a high-growth early-stage company. The position offers significant responsibility and financial upside.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Determine sales strategy and resource allocation to realize company objectives
• Drive sales growth by setting specific business unit targets, measuring progress and holding team accountable to results
• Establish overall channel account growth strategy and establish key initiatives to maximize partner engagement and sell-through
• Recruit, hire, and manage expanding agriculture sales team members. Management includes establishing productivity metrics, quota setting and territory management
• Work closely with WeatherBill Product and Marketing functions to develop product roadmap, channel training programs, and communications activities across all strategic channels
• Deliver market/client data to Marketing to facilitate product development based on market demand and client direction
• Communicate and reinforce sales compensation incentive plan and provide input to ensure incentives are aligned with company goals

• Establish agriculture division headquarters in mid-west agricultural location (CO, IA, IL, IN, KS, MN, MO, ND, OH, SD, MI, WI). You will have deep influence on the location.

Skills
• 10 or more years experience in senior sales leadership positions in a channel sales oriented Agriculture products company, preferably crop insurance
• Extensive knowledge of production agriculture
• Experience leading and developing sales teams
• Strong selling, relationship and consultation skills
• Strong understanding of sales processes and methodologies, territory design, quota management and sales compensation
• Solid understanding of the principles of risk management
• An understanding of agricultural price risk management would be helpful
• Ideally, extensive experience managing insurance agency relationships and developing agency partner programs
• Ideally, an understanding of insurance law and regulatory compliance requirements
• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
