WeatherBill's Math Team is looking for a mathematician to join their team to help tackle a variety of interesting problems including the development of probabilistic climate models, application of statistical techniques to improve short range weather forecasts, pricing of unique financial instruments and much more.
You:
- Enjoy thinking outside the bell-curve
- Have experience with numerical software such as R, Matlab, Mathematica
- Thought (even briefly) that you had a shot at the Netflix Prize
- Earned an advanced degree from a reputable university
- Believe names such as Cholesky, Markov and Kolmogorov are commonplace
Pluses:
- Mastery of a programming language such as Python, Java, or Ruby
- Experience managing a small team
Weatherbill's Math Team knows what SVD and SVM stand for. When you say decomposition they think matrices not dirt, and, given a chance to play 'Let's Make a Deal', would always switch their choice of doors.
